Best Buffets in Singapore 2012: The Greenhouse@ Ritz-Carlton

Whenever one is craving for a relaxing dinner with delicious cuisine that could fill his stomach up, one is probably craving for a buffet. The Ritz Carlton in Singapore provides just that, with many dishes in their arsenal of delectable favourites, boasting an international spread with an abundance of seafood. It can be truly called one of the best buffets in Singapore for 2012.

The Greenhouse @ Ritz Carlton Singapore is open from morning to night with different kinds of buffets being served up to every customer who wants a delightful meal.

In the morning, they serve a buffet breakfast, serving up a large variety of cakes and tarts, with other dishes like buns to suit the Asian palate. After that comes the Buffet Lunch, with many foods created uniquely from the Ritz's top chefs. They will also serve up Japanese Sashimi and seafood during the buffet lunch, albeit with less options compared to the Greenhouse's buffet dinner. After the buffet lunch, the staff will clean up and prepare for the main attraction of the Greenhouse restaurant - their buffet dinner.

Greenhouse's buffet dinner start from 6:30 pm but you may enter their dining area at around 6:20. Their buffet dinner is very popular amongst Singaporeans so it will be prudent to book a table first before visiting the establishment. Their normal buffet dinner consists mainly of Seafood, although they will change the theme up a bit to not let the restaurant's novelty turn stale.

Their counters are all very well decorated with chefs standing by to receive any orders that you might want. However, most of the dishes are self-served, meaning you can pick out anything you like. Their seafood section had oysters, prawns, crabs, slipper lobsters, mussels and much much more. The prawns served at The Greenhouse is not those miniature kinds which you see in supermarkets or normal hawker centres, but those large ones with their big black eyes staring right at you. When the prawns enter your mouth, it will give you a crunch with its firm and tender meat. You can also practically taste the sea with it, as it is very fresh tasting.

Their live lobsters are one of the best in Singapore. The cooks allow those lobsters to live before boiling them in 2 large separate pots. Only when the customer wants to eat one, then will the cook boil those lobster. It ensures the freshness of the lobster while retaining the taste of it.

For their Japanese section, they serve up different kinds of common sashimi which you can see in sushi parlours like swordfish (kajiki) and salmon. They would also serve different varieties of sushi, from ordinary looking ones like inaris to exquisite ones with many ingredients in it. One sushi which caught my attention is their Unagi and Salmon sushi. Unlike those that you normally see in sushi restaurants, the Greenhouse's sushi is different where they will wrap the rice ball with the meat itself. They were quickly snapped up as none were seen when I browsed through their Japanese section again.

If you are a seafood aficionados, then you will find the Greenhouse to be one of the best buffets in Singapore with its wide variety of foods in the buffet. Even if you are not one, it is still one of the best place to be for the other incredible dishes and ambience.
